The Svyatoshinsky District Court of Kyiv has continued its consideration of the case against former members of the "Berkut" special force unit on charges of murdering 48 activists of EuroMaidan.This is reported by Ukrinform.
The court planned to continue the interrogation of the victims, but one of the victims who lives in the Dnipropetrovsk region did not have time to buy tickets to Kiev, so the questioning of witnesses today will not take place. The court also plans to consider the petition of prosecutors regarding the extension of the term of detention of former members of the special forces unit "Berkut" for two months. The term of detention of its former fighters expires on August 18.
Earlier it was reported that the Svyatoshinsky District Court began trial on May 17, 2016 in relation to former fighters of the Special Forces unit "Berkut". They were accused of massacre of activists on Independence Square in Kyiv in February, 2014. The five former Berkut soldiers are charged with ecessive official authority, illegal use of weapons, deliberate murder and injuries to activists of the Maidan. The accused do not admit their guilt to any of the items.
