Head of the Department of Cyber Police of the National Police of Ukraine Serhiy Demediuk has warned that another cyber attack may occur on the Independence Day, on August 24.
"We see that such attacks occur on the eve or on the day of some great holidays in Ukraine," Demediuk told the Glavkom news portal.According to him, the malicious software of M.E.Doc had many elements that have not been activated yet."We do not know yet all the properties of the virus. We have only about 1,300 official appeals into which the criminal proceedings were launched. We should bear in mind that if criminals destroyed such an important channel for obtaining information, they have reserves left. We are trying to find one more channel. Because we clearly know the main goal of cyber criminals is to destroy the traces of interference into vulnerable critical facilities," Demediuk said.
