The Kyiv city state administration by its decree approved the concept "KYIV SMART CITY 2020", which aims to create opportunities for the evolution of the capital, combining strategic approach, technological achievements and broad public involvement.
The concept defines the main ways for further infrastructure, technological and social development of the city and defines a new vector of urban space transformation. "We intend to turn our city into a technologically advanced, socially responsible and comfortable metropolis of Eastern Europe. What advantages have modern smart technologies? Three times faster is the response to various non-standard situations that arise in the city, 5 times faster decision-making, double improvement of the financial performance, 2 - 4 times reduced consumption in heat, water and electricity, 20% reduced congestion on the roads, 30% reduced crime rates, up to 15% improved environmental performance, reduced carbon emissions, etc. "- said the first deputy mayor Gennady Plis. He also noted that the transformation of Kyiv into "SMART CITY" involves three key changes: technological changes, changes in city management, social changes. According to him, the concept was developed with the participation of the public, experts of the city government, representatives of Ukrainian technology companies and international business, public organizations, scientific and academic community.
