Kyiv Berkut unit suspected of killing 39 unarmed protesters on Euromaidan Feb 20, 2014 - PGO

A senior investigator with the PGO said on Thursday that members of the unit are suspected of killing at least 39 protestors in the Instytutska Street. "None of [the protesters] were armed or threatened the lives of the [law enforcement officers]," he said. The PGO has already submitted to court three indictments against one of the commanders of the operational company and an officer of the Berkut police force over the crackdown on Maidan activists on February 18.
