"The Ukrainian and Canadian leaders emphasized the importance of deepening the special partnership between the states, particularly in trade and economic and military and technical areas. The interlocutors also noted the need to prepare for signing a bilateral agreement on free trade area as soon as possible," reads a statement posted on the official website of the Ukrainian president. The two leaders also discussed the issue of liberalization of the visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens. During the meeting, the Ukrainian president briefed the Canadian PM about the developments in Donbas. For his part, Trudeau assured Poroshenko of full support for the people of Ukraine in the struggle for their independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stressed that Canada was ready to further put pressure on Moscow and assist Ukraine in every possible way, in particular through strengthening the Ukrainian army, the Ukrainian president's press service reported. Trudeau also said he was willing to visit Ukraine at Poroshenko's invitation.
