Moscow investigators have searched a number of employees from the Library of Ukrainian Literature, who were only nominally employed there.
The criminal case against Natalia Sharina , the library's director accused of extremism, has been submitted to Moscow's board of investigation into major cases under the Russian Investigative Committee.
On October 28, police searched the Library of Ukrainian Literature, and then director Sharina was detained. A criminal inquiry was opened up against Sharina, under the chapter of the Russian Criminal Code which determines responsibility for "instigating interethnic hatred and enmity, as well as humiliating human dignity".
The library was searched, and a book by Dmytro Korchynsky, which had been qualified as extremist by Moscow's Meshchansky District Court in 2013, was found.
The defendant denies all charges against her.
According to the Russian Investigative Committee, the case was opened after investigators found out that the library offered visitors a book by Dmytro Korchynsky, which was previously qualified as extremist by a Russian court ruling that banned the book's use and circulation.
