"The year of 2017 has been declared the Year of the Ukrainian revolution 1917-1921 ," he said. He noted the decree stipulates a number of events related to publicizing information about the Ukrainian revolution, honoring its leaders and establishing memorials. "These issues that are related to publicizing the historical truth, increasing the public awareness about the events of Ukrainian history are extremely important for the national security in order to counter myths that the aggressor promotes, especially that Lenin had allegedly established the Ukrainian state or that it had emerged from the wreckage of the Soviet Union and that Stalin had assembled lands to designate its modern borders. In fact, the events of the 1917-1921 Ukrainian revolution clearly demonstrate that the Ukrainian people expressed their will to unite and establish their own state, even in those days," Pavlenko stressed.
