The main potential buyers of Odessa Portside Plant are 5 companies: three - from the USa, as well as companies from Norway and Poland. Investors from Turkey and Indonesia are also interested in privatization of the plant, head of the State Property Fund Igor Bilous said.
According to him, no domestic companies showed intereste in buying the plant . One of the factors that discourage investors, the chairman of the State Property Fund said, is big debt of the plant before Firtash company that makes USD 190 million.
During the '10 Minutes with the Prime Minister' TV program Yatsenyuk said that in 2016 honest and transparent privatization should start in Ukraine. Odesa Port-Side Plant and a number of energy companies in Ukraine should be put up for privatization as part of a campaign, which is expected to start this year.
According to Yatseniuk, the parliament should adopt a law which enables investors "to purchase state-owned facilities in an open, fair and transparent tender with the aim of attracting foreign investment, creating new jobs, and modernizing the Ukrainian economy and stripping the state companies of their political influence."
