Steinmeier insists on elections in east Ukraine

Steinmeier said this during the Helsinki Commission Hearing at the U.S. Congress, Ukrinform reports. "Now we [the representatives of the “Normandy format”] are discussing the next step. According to the Minsk Agreements, the next thing to be done now is reaching the agreement on the new electoral law to organize elections in eastern Ukraine," Steinmeier said. The German Foreign Minister believes that this step will allow creating "new legitimacy" in Donbas.
