Broader ban on Russian films comes into effect in Ukraine

In late March, the Ukrainian parliament approved a relevant bill aiming to improve the legal procedure for protecting the Ukrainian national security in the sphere of information by limiting any forms of propaganda in Ukraine used by an aggressor state. OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic has warned that recent legislative steps in Ukraine could limit free media and the free flow of information. She said on Friday that “Ukraine’s current significant progress in the area of media freedom should be preserved and enhanced, not undermined.”
