"USAID plans to provide assistance totaling $142 million to Ukraine for the energy sector, decentralization and judicial reform," the Ukrainian government's press service reported referring to the statement USAID Administrator Gayle Smith made during a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman. A total of $70 million will be allocated for the reform of the Ukrainian energy sector, $50 million to support the decentralization and $22 million for the judicial reform. USAID also expressed interest in supporting the newly established Ministry of Ukraine for the Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons. According to Smith, these funds are part of the financial support for the reform package, which was previously announced by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. Groysman stressed the importance of extending cooperation with USAID and thanked the agency for its support.
