Militants launch 64 attacks on Ukrainian troops in east Ukraine

One Ukrainian soldier was killed and four were wounded in the hostilities over the past twenty-four hours. Presidential military spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a briefing on Friday. The militants launched 64 attacks on the positions of government troops in eastern Ukraine in the past day, army operation press centre reported. The attacks persist in the vicinity of separatist-held Donetsk, the biggest city in the conflict region, as well as near strategic government-controlled seaport Mariupol near the border with Russia. The terrorists use heavy artillery, mortars, according to the report. The tensest situation was observed near Avdiyivka, north of Donetsk, where the Russian-backed militants used mortars, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms.
