Speaking at a briefing after the joint exercises of special purpose units of the National Police and the Dozor mobile detachment of the State Border Service at Boryspil International Airport on Thursday, Yovanovitch said the U.S. is committed to supporting the reform of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and raising their professional skills. For his part, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman thanked the U.S. for its help. "I want to thank our American partners for their support, the experience that we have today, for the training that the U.S. experts are currently conducting," he said. Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said that members of the special purpose units of the National Police and the Dozor mobile detachment underwent training with U.S. instructors, in particular those from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. According to him, the U.S. has been actively helping in training Ukrainian law enforcers for the past two years. Yovanovitch added that law enforcement agencies are often skeptical about holding joint inter-agency training, but they are important for ensuring public safety.
