Ukrainian army advances in the wake of counterattack, takes new positions near Svitlodarsk bulge

Turchynov noted that the Ukrainian military positions have been continually shelled for four days in a row with artillery weapons and large-caliber mortars banned by the Minsk agreements, a spokesperson for the National Security and Defence Council said on Wednesday. "By the number of shells and rounds launched against our positions near the Svitlodarsk arc, some kind of a record was broken - over 800 per day," the Security Council secretary said. He claimed that the Ukrainian troops "repelled the attacks" and "in counterattacking, moved forward and took new positions" which gave them an additional advantage in this defense sector."
