Ukraine could supply anthracite coal from Russia or South Africa instead of the territories that are not under control of the Ukrainian government, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Ihor Nasalyk has said. He said if it is from Russia it will be twice more expensive. If it is supplied from South Africa, the term of delivery will be 40-50 days, and it would be twice more expensive than Ukrainian coal.
Nasalyk said that coalmining companies in Donbas are registered in Ukraine and taxes are paid to the Ukrainian budget.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov in an interview with Interfax news agency said that Ukraine still imports 10 million tons of coal annually from Russia.
