"Stepping up cooperation between the two countries in trade and economic fields is one of the key preconditions for successful development of strategic partnership," Groysman said. He noted that signing the free trade agreement (FTA) by Ukraine and Turkey on mutually beneficial conditions would help to step up trade, the press service reported late on Tuesday. It is of the utmost importance to sign the renewed agreement to avoid double taxation and an agreement on reciprocal protection of investment, according to Groysman. He also said that the 11th meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation is to be held by late 2017 in Ankara. The parities paid special attention to cooperation in defence industry and aerospace industry. The Premier said that Ukraine has a closed-loop production cycle of passenger and transport aircraft. The experience of manufacturing Antonov An-148/158 aircraft may be used in the project on creation of a Turkish medium haul aircraft. The Ukrainian prime minister called on Turkey to deepen cooperation in the energy sector, in particular to attract Ukrainian companies to construction and modernization of gas storage facilities. "The focus of the talks was partnership in the transport sector. The top officials of the two states decided to expand the network of airline routes connecting the two countries, including opening new flights from Ukraine to the tourist centers of Antalya and Izmir," the press service said.
