Drugs to be delivered for HIV-positive in Donbass

First batch of antiretroviral drugs was delivered for HIV-infected adults and children living in the occupied territories of Donbass. Medicines are provided under the agreement between the UNICEF and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria worth nearly four million USD.

Southern and eastern regions of Ukraine, including Donetsk and Lugansk regions, have the highest rate of HIV infection in the country - 644 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The armed conflict has complicated the situation for these people.

Health of thousands of children and adults in the occupied territories of Donbass will be threatened if their daily antiretroviral therapy is interrupted, warned in the UNICEF. They also added that treatment of HIV-infected people living in other regions of Ukraine will be ensured thanks to a regular grant from the Global Fund and additional funding from our state budget.
