Ukraine to launch freight train to Iran

According to Minister Volodymyr Omelian, the route will pass through the territory of Georgia and Azerbaijan. “This is an extremely promising direction of cooperation for the two countries. Ukraine should develop new international transport corridors in order to become a reliable transit bridge between the countries of Europe, Asia, and the East,” said the minister. He also noted that the test train on the Ukraine-Iran route could be launched as early as this summer. Omelian also called on the Iranian side to consider the possibility of transporting the Iranian oil to Ukraine, as well as prospects of building an oil refinery in Ukraine.
