47 militants' attacks on Ukrainian troops, one soldier killed in past day

The separatists launched 47 attacks on the government troops in the past day, army operation press centre reported on Thursday. They shelled the Ukrainian forces with mortars, infantry fighting vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms. Most attacks are reported near the strategic government-controlled seaport Mariupol near the border with Russia, and in the vicinity of separatist-held Donetsk. One Ukrainian soldier was killed and six were wounded in the hostilities in the past 24 hours, military spokesman Oleksandr Motuzianyk told a press briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.
