63 militants' attacks on Ukrainian troops in past day

The separatists launched 63 attacks on the government troops in the past day, army operation press centre reported on Wednesday. Their attacks included the use of heavy arms. They shelled the Ukrainian forces with mortars, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms. Most attacks are reported near the strategic government-controlled seaport Mariupol close to the border with Russia, and in the vicinity of separatist-held Donetsk. More attacks are reported around the militant-controlled Luhansk. One Ukrainian soldier was killed and seven were wounded in the hostilities in the past 24 hours, military spokesman Andriy Lysenko told a press briefing in Kyiv Wednesday noon. The Ukrainian Armed Forces sustained most losses in Avdiyivka, where one serviceperson was killed and three were wounded, Lysenko said.
