Over 2.5 million Ukrainian citizens used services of Ukrainian travel agents and tour agencies in 2016, which is 25% up than in 2015, as well as 35,000 foreign tourists, which is 2.3 times more than a year ago.The press service of Amadeus Ukraine reported that for most of them (85%) tourism was the main goal.
The company said, referring to data from the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in 2016, 3,506 entities involved in travel business were registered. 80% of them are travel agents (individual businessmen) and 20% are companies.
"Despite the economic and political factors, the sector saw growth in 2016: a total of 324 new entities were registered during the year. The number of travel agencies' employees, both at companies and individual businessmen is 10,412 people," the company said.Total income from the provision of travel services last year was UAH 11.94 billion (VAT, excise tax and other mandatory duties are not included).
