The Council of the European Union has approved the decision to grant Ukraine additional trade preferences. The decision was approved on July 17 in Brussels as part of a meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council, UNIAN reports.
Previously, this decision was approved by the European Parliament. In accordance with the agreements reached, quotas on tomatoes, wheat, corn and honey will be increased, but not as much as previously proposed by the European Commission. The following annual quotas were set: for honey - 2,5 thousand tons, processed tomatoes - 3 thousand tons, wheat - 65 thousand tons, corn - 625 thousand tons, barley - 325 thousand tons.
Preferences will be introduced for a period of up to three years, as an addendum to the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement.
It should be noted: at the end of September last year, the European Commission proposed to increase quotas for the export of a number of Ukrainian goods.
