The trade agreement between Canada and Ukraine was signed in Kyiv on July 11, 2016. Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada ratified the deal on March 14, 2017. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed the law on ratification on April 3, 2017.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko welcomes the entry into force on August 1 of the Agreement on the Free Trade Zone between Ukraine and Canada, calling it a new page in relations between the two countries."This document opens a window of great opportunities for Ukrainian business - in trade, public procurement, in e-commerce," the president wrote on his Facebook page.
At the same time, Poroshenko said that the Agreement is also an eloquent and symbolic gesture of support, "this is a remarkable manifestation of a special partnership that is growing stronger between our countries - far away in terms of geography, but so close in spirit, values and aspirations."
