Law-enforcement officials have served Anti-Corruption Action Center head Vitaliy Shabunin a notice of suspicion for premeditated assault, the press service of the National Police of Ukraine has told the Kyiv-based Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
"The notice was served in agreement with prosecutors pursuant to Part 1 of Article 122 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," police spokeswoman Oksana Blyschyk said.
Prosecutors will ask the court to release Shabunin on his own recognizance pending trial, a spokesperson for the Kyiv Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) said.
If convicted of assault, Shabunin could be imprisoned for up to five years.
