On October 17, in connection with the events in the central part of the city, the public security will be provided by 3,5 thousand law-enforcers, including the servicemen of the National Guard.
This was announced by Head of the National Police Department of Kyiv Andriy Krischenko on "112 Ukraine" TV Channel .
"We received several applications for the holding of actions near the Verkhovna Rada, applications for a fairly large number of people, according to various estimates, planned to 10 thousand people near the VR. In addition, additional overlapping movement is planned due to the official visit of the President of Malta. At this moment 3,5 thousand law-enforcers are involved, and this is the servicemen of the National Guard, who guard public order in the city center. With the complication of the operational situation, additional forces may be involved, "the police said.
Earlier it was reported that the ex-head of the Odessa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili and his associates intend to protest in Kyiv on October 17. Saakashvili states that he is not ready to say the the exact number of participants, "but hopes that there will be plenty of people ". Several political forces and public organizations have already said about their participation in the action.
