Ukraine plans to launch its first telecommunication satellite "Lybid" in 2018.
This was announced by head of the State Space Agency Pavlo Dehtyarenko.
"For a long time, the critical issues related to the implementation of the project (the creation and commissioning of a national satellite system with the geostationary telecommunication satellite" Lybid ") were not solved. This has led to the accumulation of problems that present a sufficiently serious challenge with which the agency has to face. We have found support from the Cabinet of Ministers for further funding for the completion of this project. We expect that the planned measures will enable us to carry out the whole range of works needed to enable Ukraine finally received its own satellite in the orbit in the second half of 2018, " he said.
