The Lviv National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Solomiya Krushelnytska, performs the premiere of the full version of Folk Opera by composer Yevhen Stankovych "When the Fern Blooms" that was written yet in the middle of the 70's of the last century. The libretto of the opera is based on the works of Nikolai Gogol and national folklore.
People's Artist of Ukraine Nina Matviyenko will sing her solo party. Almost forty years ago, the singer was already preparing for the premiere of this folk opera, which was to take place in the Kyiv Palace "Ukraine", but never happened, since the then leaders of the cultural industry of the country banned it with the strange wording: "for technical reasons."
Director of the stage production of the opera, the artistic director of the Lviv Opera, People's Artist of Ukraine Vasyl Vovkun says that he has been dreaming to make stage production of this opera for several years, but this has not been possible yet.
According to the creators of the show, it will be a wonderful New Year's gift for the audience and will become an outstanding cultural event for the whole Ukraine.
