President of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio hopes for the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the law on the Anticorruption Court.
He emphasized this during a speech at the event on the occasion of the launch of the new Supreme Court of Ukraineon, Ukrinform reported.
"I strongly advise you to create this Anticorruption Court and I hope that the Verkhovna Rada will support the creation of such a court by a majority," said the president of the Venice Commission. At the same time, he predicted pressure on judges of this court in case of its creation.
"The judges who will work there will, of course, have very serious pressures. It will be difficult for them to work there, and of course we must rely on the resolute role of the international community here," said Buquicchio.
Earlier, President Poroshenko announced that he intends to submit a bill on the Anticorruption Court to the Verkhovna Rada next week. He expressed confidence that after the bill will be supported by the Parliament, the Anticorruption Court will complete the formation of anticorruption infrastructure.
On December 26, the parliament plans to consider revocation of the parliamentary bill number 6011 on the creation of anti-corruption courts, which will allow to register a new bill
