More than 60 people are currently imprisoned in Russian-occupied Crimea for political reasons, the chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Bloc of Petro Poroshenko faction deputy Refat Chubarov, has said.
"The number of those whom we refer to political prisoners, that is people who are deprived of liberty, are behind bars or in jail, have already received so-called court verdicts, or are limited in moving within Crimea under court verdicts, already exceeds 60," Chubarov said live on Ukraine's Channel 5.
According to him, about ten people have already received their prison terms.
"They were sent to mainland Russia," Chubarov added.
"I'm not talking about those who received a huge fine, starting from participation in the events on February 26, 2014. There are already several hundred of such people," he said.
