Only 170 parliamentarians voted in favor of his dismissal on Thursday, with the required minimum being 226. On July 2, Kvitashvili wrote his letter of resignation after losing the support of Petro Poroshenko Bloc, and said he hopes that his resignation will help ensure that health sector reforms are adopted. "I have decided to resign. When the bloc that invited me to this post without discussing it with me is considering my dismissal, I think the right thing to do is to leave," he told reporters. "If my resignation helps pass bills that are needed to launch reform, I'm ready to leave," he added. Kvitashvili said that at present, bills on health reform remain in the office of the Cabinet of Ministers. In early July, the Verkhovna Rada Committee for Healthcare voted in favor of draft resolution №2864 on the minister's resignation.
