According to the Ukrainian government's press service, the Japanese delegation confirmed their strong support for the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine and expressed their readiness to prolong active assistance in assisting the ongoing reforms in Ukraine and to deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly on the economy and to improve responses to accidents at nuclear power stations. Yatseniuk expressed his gratitude to the Japanese officials for their solidarity with Ukraine while the country "faces exceptional trials as a result of Russian aggression against the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine." The parties reiterated their joint position on refusing to recognize any changes to the borders of Ukraine, on the violation of territorial integrity and basic principles of international law, and they noted the importance on strengthening international security. A wide range of issues related to countering Russian aggression were also discussed.
