The ministry's press service reported that its new advisory is a result of the Metrojet Flight 9268 crash last month which killed 224, including four Ukrainians. "Citizens of Ukraine who have decided to visit Egypt are recommended to take into account the security situation [in the country] and are advised to completely refrain from trips to the northern and central parts of Sinai Peninsula; to exclude trips to the desert regions west of the Nile river valley; to demonstrate increased vigilance when visiting the northern coast of Egypt, the country's capital [Cairo] and the Nile river delta, tourist sites in the Nile valley, and on the coast of Red Sea [El Gouna, Hurghada, Makadi Bay, Safaga, Soma Bay, and Sharm-el-Sheikh]," the ministry said. During their stay in Egypt, Ukrainians are strongly advised to be especially attentive and careful and not leave guarded resorts without sufficient reason. If citizens leave guarded resorts, they should report this to the hotel's administration, relatives, or their tourist operator.
