International donors at a conference on raising funds for the Nuclear Safety Account in Kyiv on April 25 have decided to provide additional contributions for the implementation of the Chornobyl projects totalling EUR 87.5 million, Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Shigeki Sumi has said.
As the Japanese ambassador said, the G7 countries have announced that they will make an additional contribution to the tune of EUR 45 million, other donors plan to provide another EUR 2.5 million. The EBRD supports the recommendation on assigning extra EUR 40 million from the bank's resources.
According to the Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadiy Zubko, Ukraine at the donors' conference has announced its decision to provide its additional contribution of EUR 1.4 million.
The collected funds will be assigned for completing the construction of the New Safe Confinement and the Interim Storage Facility 2 (ISF-2).
