Revolution in Ukrainian medicine -domestic surgeons transplanted mechanical heart

This operation lasted about three hours. Our surgeons were assisted by colleagues from Germany, where such operations are carried out successfully for over ten years. According to director of the Institute of Hart Borys Todurov till today these technologies to Ukrainian medicine were impossible in principle. But even now these operations, unfortunately, will not become more frequently conducted. Because the appliance itself costs almost 120 thousand euro, and even for the first patient they have not succeeded to collect the full amount. Mechanical heart makes it possible to significantly extend the life of the patient and to wait for a donor organ. But while in Ukraine there is no law on transplantation it is not possible, says Borys Todurov.
