"The Government increases spending on culture by 90%. This means that Ukrainian culture will no longer be something minor, residually funded. The Government will allocate 3.8 billion hryvnias [or over 140 million US dollars] for cultural activities, preservation of historical monuments, and production of Ukrainian films," the statement reads. The Cabinet noted that 455 million hryvnias out of these funds will be spent on preparations for hosting the Eurovision Song Contest, 500 million hryvnias – on production of Ukrainian films, and 70 million hryvnias – on the restoration and recovery of cultural heritage.
