Cabinet approves bill amending certain legislative acts on export/import of movable cultural property

The purpose of the bill is to ensure the transparency and simplification of administrative services in the field of exports, imports, and return of movable cultural property. This will reduce the administrative barriers for persons moving items across the customs border of Ukraine of serial and mass production, and imported movable cultural property into the country by them. In addition, it will allow strengthening the control over the movement of the movable cultural property having notable value to the state and society, as well as handing over of powers of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine to the regional level to issue a certificate. The regulatory act also defines a new approach to the examination of cultural property through the state accreditation of experts on movable cultural property and providing them with respective certificates. According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture, in order to harmonize acts of laws with each other the amendments are simultaneously made into Ukrainian Laws titled "On export, import and return of cultural property," "On museums and museum practice" and "On the National Archive Fund and archive institutions."
