On July 18, militants shelled the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone 23 times, killing two Ukrainian servicemen and injuring four, the ATO press center headquarters reported.
"The situation in the ATO zone has seriously worsened late on July 18. During daytime the enemy reduced the number of attacks on Ukrainian positions, then after 18:00 the situation radically changed... All in all, in the past twenty-four hours, militants breached the truce 23 times. Two servicemen were killed and four were wounded. The ATO forces opened fire 14 times, using mostly small arms and heavy machine guns," the headquarters said on its official Facebook page.
In the Donetsk sector, militants shelled the ATO positions near Avdiyivka from 120 mm and 82 mm mortars, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms, near Krasnohorivka - from tanks, near Zaitseve and Nevelske - from mortars and grenade launchers. In addition, as a result of the shelling of residential areas of Avdiyivka from 82 mm caliber mortars, two local residents were wounded.
In the Luhansk sector, militants fired using small arms at the Ukrainian army positions near Donets and Stanytsia Luhanska.
