Arsonists of forest detained in Mykolaiv region

Mykolaiv police detained two young men who burned the forest. Guys are threatened with up to 10 years of imprisonment.

This was reported in the department of communications of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Mykolaiv region.

According to police, detainees are 17-year-old (previously convicted) and 21-year-old residents of the village Novopetrivske. Because of their actions, a large forest fire occurred on August 19. According to preliminary data, about 80 hectares of forest plantations were burned down, the fire was shutting down for almost a day, even the military had to be involved. Probably the cause of the fire investigators called the arson.

Both detainees do not deny their guilt and give testimony, but argue that they had no intention to burn forest. They said that they did not extinguish the fire when burning garbage after a party.
