The Verkhovna Rada has adopted as a whole bill No. 7277, which tightens the accountability for non-payment of alimony.
Lawyer Vasyl Miroshnychenko commented in the program "Today, Morning" on the Ukrainian Radio the respective bill, amending some legislative acts on strengthening the protection of the child's right to proper maintenance by improving the procedure for enforcing the payment of alimony.
According to Vasyl Miroshnichenko, one of the most recent changes is: if the debt on alimony is the aggregate amount of payments for six months, the debtor will be temporarily restricted in the right to drive a vehicle, use firearms, hunting, pneumatic weapons. In addition, the law temporarily restricts the right to travel abroad of those citizens who have debts for the payment of alimony".
The debtor will also not be asked when the child travels abroad This will be solved only by the person with whom the child resides. The procedure for enforcing the payment of alimony is substantially changing. In addition, the person entitled to maintenance has the right to index the arrears of the payment of alimony. "
