During the two -day summit of the European Union, leaders of the EU are expected to approve the launch of a new defense program - PESCO.

We have demonstrated that we stand firm together, supporting each other when necessary, and this week we can show that despite the differences, it is possible to keep unity.The best example is the launch of a new European defense cooperation, a new defense program, PESCO,"said President of the European Council Donald Tusk in a letter-invitation to the EU leaders.
In addition, progress will be discussed in other areas, in particular, in EU-NATO cooperation.
The European Council, in the format of the EU-27, will review the latest progress in the negotiations, after Britain has announced its intention to leave the EU.
the EU leaders are expected to adopt a draft guidelines to move to the second phase of the Brexit-related negotiations. As you know, Michel Barnier, the EU's chief negotiator, has confirmed that sufficient progress has been made during the first round of talks.
As part of the agenda, EU leaders will also hold a debate on the migration policy of the Union.
Recall, the heads of state and government of the EU member states on December 14 will approve a political decision to extend the sectoral economic sanctions against Russia imposed for encroachment on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
