This is the second part of International Dialogue about transformation policy in Ukraine implemented by young leaders. So, Ukraine needs to reform even during a war, and the EU perspective directly depends on that factor. The political climate in Ukraine has constantly been changing. For many foreigners, it looked weird how fast everything sometimes changes without any discipline and respect for the rule of law. We must admit that most Ukrainians need a proper political education to choose the right leader. Such young politicians as Yuilia Marushevska clearly show that we need a new way of thinking in our old political system, and it starts to work step by step.

Це друга частина Міжнародного діалогу про трансформаційну політику в Україні, яку реалізують молоді лідери. Отже, Україні потрібно реформуватися навіть під час війни, і від цього безпосередньо залежить перспектива ЄС. Політичний клімат в Україні постійно змінювався. Багатьом іноземцям здавалося дивним, як швидко все іноді змінюється без жодної дисципліни та поваги до верховенства права. Треба визнати, що більшості українців потрібна відповідна політична освіта, щоб обрати правильного лідера. Такі молоді політики, як Юлія Марушевська, чітко показують, що нам потрібен новий спосіб мислення в нашій старій політичній системі, і він крок за кроком починає працювати.

This edition of Ukraine Global is about the third summit of the Crimean Platform and its results. On 23 August, Kyiv hosted the third summit of the Crimean Platform. The main issues of the summit were the future of Crimea and the de-occupation of the peninsula by military means. This event was broadcast live on the YouTube channel of Crimean Platform. So, we can see that all democratic nations support Ukraine in our desire to return Crimea. Nevertheless, the peninsula's situation is quite hard regarding personal freedom for those who do not support Russia. Still, we need to understand that many people there, the post-Soviet generation, will support the dictatorship. The peninsula is split into two parts- pro-Russian and pro-democratic. First of all, we need to win the war, in general. And how it will happen, with returning Crimea immediately or later, only God knows.

Головними питаннями саміту було майбутнє Криму та деокупація півострова військовим шляхом. Ця подія транслювалася на YouTube-каналі Кримської платформи. Сьогодні, ми бачимо, що всі демократичні країни підтримують Україну в нашому прагненні повернути Крим. Тим не менш, ситуація на півострові досить складна щодо питань особистої свободи тих, хто не підтримує Росію. Але треба розуміти, що там багато людей, так званого, пострадянського покоління, яке підтримає диктатуру. Півострів розділений на дві частини – проросійську та продемократичну. Перш за все, нам потрібно виграти війну. А чи станеться це паралельно з поверненням Криму чи пізніше, одному Богу відомо.

This edition of International Dialogue is about the changes that young Ukrainian public figures want to implement in Ukraine now in times of war. Some people now are saying that it is not correct to talk about politics. And they are quite right because we have a war which is going on in our country. At the same time, we need to realize that exactly the politics brought us to the tragic conflict we have. So, it is necessary to talk about the political environment now in Ukraine to avoid future mistakes and to rethink the past. Yulia Marushevska shot to fame as the star of a viral video during Ukraine's Euromaidan Revolution. She has since risen to national prominence as a key member of Mikheil Saakashvili's reformist team in the Odesa.  It all happened like in the past life when we had frozen conflict but not a full-scale war. Now, she is the leader of an advisory board that should become a platform for transformations in the Ministry of Defense. And, in general, she is a public figure who creates a good image of Ukraine inside and outside the country. Today, I will talk with Yulia about the changes she and her team want to implement in Ukraine now in times of war. You will hear the first part of our conversation.

Відтоді вона здобула загальнонаціональну популярність, як ключовий член реформаторської команди Михайла Саакашвілі в Одесі. Все це відбулося як у минулому житті, коли у нас був заморожений конфлікт, а не повномасштабна війна. Зараз вона очолює консультативну раду, яка має стати платформою для перетворень у Міноборони. І, взагалі, Юлія є публічною особою, яка створює гарний імідж України, як всередині держави, так і за її межами. This edition of Ukraine Global is about the "Istanbul Convention" and its practical use in Ukraine after ratification last year. On June 20, 2022, the Ukrainian Parliament ratified the "Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and combating violence against Women and domestic violence," known as the "Istanbul Convention". On November 1, 2022, the Istanbul Convention came into force. Margarita Stavrova, a young lawyer from the United Kingdom, said that the situation is generally much better in Ukraine with gender equality. Still, there is so much to do in this field and the legal protection of women's rights, even in Arabic countries like the United Arab Emirates, is much stronger than in Ukraine.

Цей випуск програми про «Стамбульську конвенцію» та її практичне застосування в Україні після ратифікації минулого року. 20 червня 2022 року Верховна Рада України ратифікувала «Конвенцію Ради Європи про запобігання та боротьбу з насильством щодо жінок і домашнім насильством», відому як «Стамбульська конвенція». 1 листопада 2022 року набула чинності Стамбульська конвенція. Молода юристка з Великої Британії Маргарита Ставрова зазначила, що в Україні загалом ситуація з гендерною рівністю набагато краща. І все ж у цій сфері ще дуже багато роботи, і юридичний захист прав жінок, навіть, в таких арабських країнах, як Об’єднані Арабські Емірати, набагато сильніший, ніж в Україні.

This edition of Ukraine Global is about the current Russian involvement into the war between the Israel and Hamas. The war between Palestina and Israel is not news for the world. It has been going on for decades with breaks. Many analysts said that Ukraine has to take an example from that situation, especially Israel, as a country at constant war. Now, the conflict blew up with a new power. Why did it happen now when Ukraine is so close to the winter season, and the USA stopped actively supplying weapons to our country because of the inner disagreements? It looks like, the devil Russian plan has started to work abroad now. So, for Ukraine, the situation looks not very good. Now, the world's attention has shifted to the Middle East, and it is hard to forecast who will win there. We can't do anything to help Israel in the global arena except evacuate Ukrainians from the dangerous area. The only hope is that the White House, whom we trust, has a strategy for dealing with this situation, continuing the military support to Ukraine. Now, the USA has to support both allies- Ukraine and Israel because of Russian intervention everywhere. They don't play by international rules and do what they want. It is a new type of diplomacy created by Mr. Putin. And we have to deal with it.

Багато аналітиків казали, що з цієї ситуації треба брати приклад Україні, особливо з Ізраїлю, як країни, яка постійно воює. Тепер конфлікт вибухнув з новою силою. Чому це сталося саме зараз, коли Україна так близько до зимового сезону, а США припинили активні поставки зброї в нашу країну через внутрішні розбіжності? Схоже, диявольський російський план почав працювати закордоном. Отже, для України ситуація виглядає не дуже добре. Зараз увага світу переключилася на Близький Схід, і важко передбачити, хто там переможе. Ми нічим не можемо допомогти Ізраїлю на світовій арені, окрім евакуації українців із небезпечної зони. Єдина надія полягає в тому, що Білий дім, якому ми довіряємо, має стратегію вирішення цієї ситуації, продовжуючи військову підтримку України. Тепер США змушені підтримувати обох союзників – Україну та Ізраїль через російське втручання всюди. Росіяни не грають за міжнародними правилами і роблять те, що хочуть. Це новий тип дипломатії, створений паном Путіним. Тож, ми маємо протистояти цій стратегії, створюючи нові методи, як розкусити ворога ще до того, як він почне діяти проти нас.

Clearly the world is changing, and that change has been affecting Eastern Europe for several years now, which means that Central and Eastern Europe geopolitical realities are being transformed also. The region will surely not serve as a bridge between Europe and Russia in the near future, as Russia has decided to burn all such bridges down. Most likely it will act as a fortress, and hopefully not as the battlefield that Kissinger’s submission would suggest. I continue to talk with Jozef Hrabina, a geopolitical advisor and the company's founder -GeopoLytics.  We discussed new realities for Eastern Europe and how Ukraine can improve our diplomatic relations with Eastern European countries.

Регіон точно не буде служити мостом між Європою та Росією найближчим часом, оскільки Росія вирішила спалити всі такі мости.
